My career has been built at the intersection of business development, consulting, healthcare leadership, and strategic operations. As a Doctor of Audiology with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, I bring a unique perspective to business consulting—one that combines analytical thinking, operational strategy, leadership, and a genuine understanding of the people behind the business.
Over the years, my experience in business development and business consulting has taught me that successful businesses need more than a great product or service. They need strong systems, sound financial practices, thoughtful planning, and the ability to understand what the numbers are saying. That belief is what led me to expand T Powell Consultants to provide professional bookkeeping, bookkeeping cleanup, payroll services, and small business consulting.
A Career Built Across Healthcare & Business
My professional journey has given me a unique view of business from multiple sides of the healthcare ecosystem. I began my career as a clinical audiologist at Grady Health System, gaining firsthand experience as a healthcare provider within a large academic health system. I later transitioned into business development with Starkey Hearing Technologies, where I developed referral partnerships and supported market expansion, followed by leadership roles with Optum, focusing on product implementation, innovation, and provider-network initiatives. As Director of Consumer Strategy at Ochsner Health System, I worked across patient access, navigation, care coordination, patient experience, vendor and contract oversight, and enterprise initiatives. I also gained direct entrepreneurial experience as the Owner and Clinical Director of Frisco Hearing & Tinnitus Associates, overseeing practice operations, staffing, scheduling, financial management, and business growth. Today, through my work in benefits administration and product management with Empyrean Benefit Solutions, I continue to work at the intersection of technology, benefits, operations, and business strategy. This diverse experience across provider organizations, hospital systems, payers, benefits administration, entrepreneurship, and consulting gives me a perspective that allows me to understand not only how businesses operate, but how strategy, people, systems, and financial performance work together to drive sustainable growth.
I’m also a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor Advanced Online and Payroll, allowing me to bring specialized QuickBooks knowledge and practical financial management support to the small businesses I serve.
When I’m not helping business owners build stronger businesses, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, traveling, staying active through fitness, and playing golf and tennis. I believe that success should include more than a healthy bottom line—it should create the time and freedom to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to build.
